This is my story," narrates an adult Jake Doyle (Neil Patrick Harris) in the first trailer of the original movie from HBO Max, 8-Bit Christmas. Set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, 8-Bit Christmas is about young Jake's Herculean journey (winslow fegley), ten years old, to get the best Christmas gift: o Nintendo Entertainment System.
“Me and my friends would do anything just to play one,” Harris' adult Jake tells his daughter about his childhood vacation times. “I needed a Christmas miracle. One thing was clear: I needed to have my own.” Described as a humorous and heartfelt retrospective of childhood adventures, 8-Bit Christmas stars Neil Patrick Harris (The Matrix Resurrections), Winslow Fegley (Come Play, Fast Layne), June Diane Raphael (long shot , Grace and Frankie), David Cross (Arrested Development, Kung Fu Panda) and Steve Zahn (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The White Lotus) as Jake's father who doesn't go to Nintendo.
