Acer announces the incredibly thin and light Swift 7 (SF715-52T), with a new premium chassis that frees up screen space. Winner of the CES 2019 Innovation Award, its ultra-narrow edges make it practically borderless, giving the Swift 7 an impressive 92% screen-to-edge ratio. The Swift 7, equipped with Windows 10, is also very light, so professionals who carry a notebook during the day will appreciate its weight of just 890 grams, which makes it look like it hardly weighs in a briefcase or small bag.

“Acer Swift 7 strikes a balance between art and technology and, in doing so, takes the design of ultraportable PCs to a new level,” says Jerry Hou, general manager of Consumer Notebooks in the IT Products Division at Acer Inc. “With an impressive 92% screen-to-edge ratio, Acer customers can stay more productive with a compact, thinner and lighter notebook that barely seems to be present when transported throughout the day and on business trips. "

“We designed the latest Intel Core 8 processorsThe Generation to offer a complete platform, with performance to enable rich user experiences, and energy efficiency to increase battery life, all in a fanless design, ”says Chris Walker, vice president of Computing for Customers at Intel. “It is exciting to work in partnership with Acer on the innovation presented in the new Acer Swift 7.”

Ultra-compact design results in an impressive 92% screen-to-edge ratio

Thanks to incredible advances in design and engineering, the redesigned Swift 7 makes the latest technologies fit in a chassis significantly smaller than its predecessor. It features a narrow edge design with four sides, with the edges measuring just 2.57 mm, which drastically reduces the width and depth of the notebook to just 317.9 mm (W) x 191.5 mm (D), providing an immersive, almost full-screen display. Like its predecessors, the Swift 7 (SF714-52T) remains incredibly thin and light, less than 1 cm thick (9.95 mm) and weighing less than 1 kg (890 grams).

The Swift 7 is incredibly thin and light, but it is durable. Designed for portability, it is made with magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum alloys, which also keeps the keyboard robust and provides solid support when typing. These materials are two to four times stronger than standard aluminum alloys in the same thickness, but are up to 20% to 35% lighter to keep the notebook below 1 kg. In addition, Acer applied a micro-arc oxidation finish to create a surface with an elegant, ceramic-like material.

The 14-inch Full HD 1920 × 1080 touch screen with IPS technology allows for smooth touch interactions and presents vibrant, crystal clear images. With a 100% sRGB / 72% NTSC color range and 300 nits of brightness (TBD), Swift 7 brings immersive experiences to your advanced screen. In addition, it is extra durable thanks to a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

All-day battery performance

The Swift 7 is equipped with the latest Intel processor® Core 8th Generation i7-8500Y, to offer high level performance for web browsing, productivity in presentations and spreadsheets and even the use of authoring tools with high computational demand, while allowing a fanless design. With up to 512 GB of fast storage on SSD PCIe, a large amount of files can be stored and accessed quickly, and with up to 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, customers can perform multiple tasks without any problems. And with 10 hours battery life, customers can use Swift 7 for a long time.

Connectivity via Thunderbolt 3 and advanced WiFi

Customers can accomplish more using the two Type C USB ports, which support Thunderbolt ™ 3 to speed data transfer up to 40 Gbps, while supplying power to the system and allowing the connection of any monitor, in addition to the USB 3.1 port of 2nd Generation. Display Port 1.3 allows fast data transfers of up to 10 Gbps and supports high-resolution external monitors and fast charging of external devices as well. Staying connected on the Acer Swift 7 is reliable and super-fast with Intel Wireless-AC offering Wi-Fi 5 with Gigabit speed capability and MU-MIMO 2 × 2 technology. It is also possible to connect peripherals via Bluetooth 5.0, while the combined headphone and speaker connector ensures clear and crisp audio.

Intuitive features for an exceptional experience

The design of the Swift 7 offers an exceptional experience for professionals working with jet-setting. The gum keyboard has well-spaced keys, allowing users to type documents with minimal errors. The keyboard also offers 1.1 mm of trigger distance and responsive feedback. In addition, the backlit keyboard makes typing comfortable in low light conditions.

The touchpad with Corning Gorilla Glass is accurate and responsive in scrolling and navigation gestures. The glass touchpad also has an integrated click button, support for multi-touch gestures and a responsive physical click. In addition, the power button also functions as a fingerprint reader, so customers can activate the device using the more secure Windows Hello login, which does not require the use of a password.

The new Swift 7 includes a retractable camera for webchats and video recording, which can be kept closed to prevent unintended use and ensure user privacy. It rotates up to 65 degrees when opened and has HDR (wide dynamic range), providing images at wider angles for viewing by groups.
