The channel AMC welcomes the Cody family again for the third season of Animal Kingdom, which premieres on October 8th at 10:30 pm. With new conflicts due to the incarceration of Janine “Smurf” Cody, the clan begins to rethink their roles. Young and not-so-innocent Jay is increasingly involved in the family business.

Australian movie remake Animal Kingdom was developed for TV by Jonathan Lisco (“Halt and Catch Fire” and “Southland”) and John Wells (“Shameless” and “The West Wing”). The series tells the story of Joshua “J” Cody, a 17-year-old boy who, after the sudden death of his mother, is forced to look for his grandmother, Janine “Smurf” Cody. He was protected by the Cody family for years and, throughout the series, the group's connection to the crime explains why. Smurf is in charge of business. Baz, her right-hand man, was adopted by her as a teenager. His eldest son, the troubled Pope, has just been released from prison. He is followed by the rude, hyperactive and drugged-up Craig. The sad and suspicious Deran is the younger brother.

“J” soon discovers that Smurf is an intense, imposing and complicated matriarch, who rules the lives of “her boys” with a love that borders on incestuous. Thus, joining this family involves many more dangers and strong emotions than he is prepared to face.

In this new season of Animal Kingdom, Jay is not as innocent as before. Now, with his uncles, he lives a life of limitless crime, reaping the rewards. But with Smurf in prison, an inevitable question surrounds the Codys: who will take care of the family? Will it be Jay? Will it be Baz? Or will it be an unexpected figure that will reappear in their lives?

The series' cast is headlined by Tony Award-winning actress, Ellen Barkin, as Janine “Smurf” Cody, the matriarch of the clan. The rest of the family is made up of Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders, An Inspector Calls) as Joshua J Cody; Scott Speedman (Barefoot, My Life Without Me) as Barry “Baz” Blackwell; Shawn Hatosy (Public Enemies, “Fear the Walking Dead”) as Andrew “Pope” Cody; Ben Robson (“Vikings”, The Boy) as Craig Cody; Jake Weary (Chicago Fire, “Pretty Little Liars”) as Deran Cody; and the participation of Carolina Guerra (“Da Vinci’s Demons”) as Catherine Ortiz and Molly Gordon (“Orange is the New Black”) as Nicky Belmont. The series is executive produced by Jonathan Lisco (“Halt and Catch Fire” and “Southland”) and John Wells (“Shameless” and “The West Wing”) for John Wells Productions. Additionally, it is co-produced by Warner Horizon Television.
