The future miniseries Hamburg Angeloriginal Globo Television Network, will be the first project that the radio station carries out in partnership with another major television studio. Scheduled to start in 2019, the recordings were postponed and will only start in 2020. The information is from the columnist Flávio Ricco for the newspaper The day. According to the publication, the co-working was signed last May with the Sony Pictures Television.
It is a period plot, starring the actress Sophie Charlotte and Jayme Monjardim (Maysa: When the Heart Speaks, currently displayed on ALIVE), signs the direction of the project that will be entirely spoken in English. Some factors contributed to the recordings being postponed, such as choosing and preparing the cast, costumes, details of the scenes and locations (in Brazil and Argentina), for example. For this year, pre-production of the series is contemplated.
The plot revolves around the real story of Aracy de Carvalho, an employee of the Brazilian consulate in Hamburg, who was married to the writer João Guimarães Rosa, immortalized by Brazilian Academy of Letters and author of Sagarana and Grande Sertões: Veredas. The story goes that the “Hamburg angel”, as Aracy was known, helped hundreds of Jews to flee to Brazil during the Nazi regime. Mário Teixeira and Rachel Anthony sign the work.
It is in charge of Sony, the project's distribution rights in other countries. The TV Globo, will show the series on national network and also, on other platforms of the Grupo Globo de Comunicação throughout Brazil - and that includes the Globosat and also, the platform of streaming Globoplay.
Hamburg Angel will not be the only partnership between Globe and Sony, two others are confirmed. The next one, Rio Connection, talks about a group of European traffickers who chose Brazil for the disposal of heroin, during the 70s. The third production has not yet been released, but it will also be in English as the first two.
The premiere date and other names to compose the cast of Hamburg Angel, have not yet been released.
