Different states of Amnesia are constantly explored in fictional works. Be suspicious, as in Amnesia, in Christopher Nolan, or for comedy, as in As if it were the first time, having a protagonist with a short memory is not uncommon to be seen.

Before bedtime (Before I Go to Sleep), adapted from the homonymous work by SJ Watson, which was relaunched in Brazil by Record Publisher due to the release of the film, it presents an amnesia condition very similar to the one already mentioned as if it were the first time. Christine (Nicole Kidman) suffered an accident and lost his recent memory, remembering only facts that happened until his twenties and forgetting everything again when he goes to sleep. Your husband, Ben (Colin Firth) needs to explain to her every morning that they have been married for 15 years, where things and basic information are to spend the day.

Whenever Ben leaves for work, Christine gets a call from her psychiatrist, Dr. Nasch (Mark Strong), reminding her to check her 'diary' that she keeps on a hidden digital camera. And so the suspense begins, who can she really trust?

A very interesting idea is the lack of information at the beginning of the plot. As we know exactly the same as Christine, we can have a good idea of how she felt in this situation. During the events, new information is presented that makes the public suspicious of some, trusting others, and then the outcome is delivered that manages to surprise in a certain way.

The duo Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman as always did not disappoint, although Firth stands out much more in acting. I don't know if it is a consequence of Kidman's bad phase or his character was not explored enough, but his performance could have been more intense.

Before bedtime it may not be entirely original and may not have the dose of suspense it promises, but it pleases you to avoid some clichés that were dangerously close to happening. The most critical may complain about the lack of information or even the fact that Christine is absurd, but I think these were the real differentials of the work. At the very least, it's worth 92 minutes of your time.
