The world that production designer Andy Nicholson brought to life around Los Angeles was “Torfa”. Nicholson and his team took the existing sand mine and quarry in Simi Valley and, with the help of thousands of pounds of sand, turned it into a visually dynamic backdrop.

Costume Designer Sanja Hays' team made eight Captain Marvel uniforms for Brie Larson. For the superhero costumes, the main fabric is leather with a special pearly blue finish that glows when the light hits it.

The filmmakers auditioned several different cats to play a feline character named Goose and ended up with a cat named Reggie. Reggie came with a team of three other cats – Archie, Gonzo and Rizzo – who specialized in different tricks.
