CCBB receives Stephen King show

To celebrate Halloween in style, the STEPHEN KING Exhibition: FEAR IS YOUR BEST COMPANION arrives at CCBB SP on October 30th. Until November 25, the public will be able to check 41 productions, including films, telefilms and miniseries, based on the author's works, in addition to five films that were a reference for his work.

With tickets at R$5.00 and some free sessions, the program also includes debates and master classes with invited professionals, in addition to sessions with accessibility (pounds and audio description). The project is sponsored by Banco do Brasil, through the Federal Culture Incentive Law, and is curated by Breno Lira Gomes and Rita Ribeiro.

CCBB recebe mostra de Stephen King 1

At the opening of the exhibition (10/30) there will be a session of the classic “Carrie, A Estranha”, at 18h, followed by a debate with the curators, the filmmaker Gabriela Amaral Almeida, the researcher Carlos Primati. On October 31st (Thursday), at 9:30 am, there is a free session of “O Aprendiz”, followed by a lecture with curator Rita Ribeiro.

In this exhibition, the Brazilian public, especially the fans of the author, will have the opportunity to debate his work, discuss his creative process and analyze the adaptations of his books for cinema and television. In addition, the exhibitions are also intended to encourage reading, since the vast majority of the films that make up the selection are based on Stephen King's books.

According to Rita Ribeiro, curator of the exhibition, “in his works and academic writings, King reaffirms the influence of literature and cinema. Therefore, promoting a show that features copies of his filmography and adaptations for TV is to promote a walk through the terrors that frighten the man of the 21st century ", and adds," The show is also an opportunity to discuss the power of literary adaptations for cinema and television. How they can be guaranteed success or devastating failure. Adapted films do not always guarantee their success with the sale of books as a parameter ”.

In the program there is also the debate “The Literature of Terror in Cinema” will be with the researcher Laura Loguercio Cánepa, the writer André Vianco and the curators. And the masterclass "O Horror que Rodeia: Literatura para Cinemas", taught by Rita Ribeiro, aims to cover the trajectory of horror, investigating the influences of Stephen King and his contributions to the genre and the adaptations of his works to the TV and cinema.

CCBB recebe mostra de Stephen King 2

“Stephen King is one of the most outstanding writers of fantastic horror and fiction stories of his generation. The exhibition STEPHEN KING: FEAR IS YOUR BEST COMPANION aims to reveal the fascination exerted by this writer, who had more than 350 million books sold and won over the main Hollywood directors, who brought adaptations of his works to the screens, such as Stanley Kubrick , Brian De Palma, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, among others ”, comments Breno de Lira Gomes, curator of the show.
