Published by publisher Intrinsic, Mindhunter is a work that reports the life of John Douglas, the first hunter of Serial killers American. Douglas served as a consultant to the FBI, where he helped to predict the minds of the killers and create a profile that helped the police find him.

Adapted by Netflix, the series Mindhunter breaks records in relation to changes according to the book. Because it is a biographical book, some changes in the narrative are to be expected, but there are times when even the characters are uncharacterized by them.

Due to the enormous amount of differences, and because some of them are related to cases that will naturally be left out of the series, we will focus only on the main ones, which are related to the characters.

See below the list with the main differences between the book and the series Mindhunter:

1. A estranha linha do tempo da carreira de John Douglas

Certainly, the main change in the series is where Douglas’s career narrative begins, in the series known as Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff). In the book, the author narrates all the way he traced to reach his final position, having several low and less glamorous jobs.

In the series, it is natural that this transition takes less time, after all, the audience that sees the work as a consultant soon. However, the problem is with the character's personality. While he is quickly mature in his series career, his personality is much more immature. Soon, they chose to keep Douglas's personal evolution path, but going straight to his final work. This resulted in an interesting controversy in his character, showing an innocence that, in reality, he does not have.

2. Sai Pam, entra Debbie

Debbie's existence serves as another example for the previous item. Early in the book, Douglas meets Pam and it doesn't take long for him to have a strong relationship and marry her.

The series presents us Debbie (Hannah Gross), which turns into a relationship, but which appears to be temporary. Debbie serves both as a support to explain the character's psychological dilemmas, and as a way to put more romantic and spicy scenes. The problem is that Ford is portrayed with incredible emotional insecurity, in addition to Debbie being smarter than him, de-characterizing the character again.

3. Olá, Wendy

Wendy, character lived by Anna Torv, is also new to the series. Clearly serving as a feminist representation in the work, the character in fact helps a lot in the plot and her presence is very justified, since only Douglas's life and a little bit of that of his partner are shown in the book.

4. O drama do filho de Bill

The adopted son of Bill (Holt McCallany), which has communication problems, does not exist in the book either. In reality, the personal life of Douglas' partners is not explored.

The child gives an extra touch, serving to show some intimate points that Douglas reports in the book, regarding the difficulties of being a father and maintaining a marriage while in this business.

  1. Aesthetic exaggerations are far from Mindhunter. There is no blood, much less violence during the ten-hour series. The series are my favorite hobbies since there are productions of different themes. I've been looking for new series that were going to come out recently and Mr. Ávila's new season is the one that most caught my attention. Without a doubt, it is one of the best good series drama, this season will be a success, so I read that the cast is confirmed by actors who are very professional. It is one of the best I've seen, the story is taken in a perfect way because it keeps the viewer always interested, it is an excellent option to see. I already count the days for the opening date!
