Heavenly: with an art more geared to what resembles the 80s, the idea of the game is to help Madeline survive her inner demons. This happens while she is on the journey of climbing a mountain to the top avoiding death. The 'fight' is of a person with anxiety and depression and makes the player empathize with the character, making it possible for her to reach the end.
flower: the game is not challenging, but is intended to bring good feelings and sensations to the player. Also without dialogues, the narrative arc is formed by visual and emotional arts. By controlling the petals that fly in the wind, the game is considered as a therapy for players with depression.
Although there are many studies that talk about how excessive use of games can be harmful to mental health, others debate exactly the opposite, as is the case of researchers at the University of Oxford, who relate the way of playing with well-being of the players. Matti Vuorre, one of the authors of the study, claims that games offer an interesting and satisfying alternative to the restrictive contacts of the pandemic.
“Although a lot of screen time is not recommended, online games can be very beneficial to mental health, both to reduce stress and to support mental balance and help with relaxation.
