If you’re a fan of romantic comedies, the forthcoming Israeli film Kicking Out Shoshana is about to hit theaters, produced in 2014, but only now comes to its release in 2019, it features Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Oshri Cohen, directed by Shay Kanot.
The plot tells the story of Ami Shushan, a character played by Israeli actor Oshri Cohen, a player on a famous football team in an extremely conservative Jerusalem town, who, after flirting with Mirit (Gal Gadot), girlfried of one of the city’s big bosses, is threatened and forced to go publicly homosexual. The climax of the film is with Shushan’s troubled announcement, causing the rage of fanatical fans and wide acceptance by the LGBT audience.
The film delivers an intelligent humorous footage, rated over 14 years old, bring the clashes of subjects considered controversial into a hostile scenario in which the film is set and which, despite being produced 5 years ago, still has issues relevant to current discussions such as support for homosexual causes.
Although it may be another romantic comedy movie in the catalog, where the main character tries to conquer the girl, its differential is due to the different customs and culture of the country, as well as its native language for being a foreign film.
The movie may appeal to viewers because it is a mild plot, but Kicking Out Shoshana does not deliver as much diversity or humorous scenes as expected for a romantic comedy movie, but it’s worth it out of curiosity to know what a movie produced and starry by Israelis looks like.
Kicking Out Shoshana arrives in Brazilian theaters on October 31st.
