One of the pleasant surprises for the Brazilian public and fans of the actor, is the presence of Wagner Moura opposite Elisabeth Moss, winner of the Emmy for best actress for The Handmaid's Tale. The actor, already used to strong roles that require a more intimate performance, leaves nothing to be desired and is a crucial character for the story.

In addition, Wagner Moura pays homage to Brazil, since he speaks in our language (he himself asked to do this), and in some scenes he appeared with a shirt of the national band. The mutants, a psychedelic group formed during the Tropicalist Movement in 1966, in São Paulo, for Arnaldo Baptista, Rita Lee and Sérgio Dias. Also participated in the group lime and Dinho Leme. The band is considered one of the main groups of Brazilian rock.

His character is an alcoholic journalist and single father. During the mysterious events surrounding Kirby, he is her main ally and even the only person she can trust and have support.

Wagner Moura is a strong presence in the series and there is no way to imagine any other actor in his place. It's as if the role was made for him.

illuminated

The series as described above is based on the book by Lauren Beukes. And as often happens, adaptation has modifications. Only this time for the better. Illuminadas is a series that works on one of the most complicated parts of fiction - which will not be placed here so as not to spoil your immersion -, and if it doesn't have a good script and direction, in addition to actors who know how to deliver what the story asks for, the series becomes meaningless/direction and the spectator is completely lost.

illuminated it is an obscure series and a true mystery. The script leaves the viewer as lost as the character, in addition to making him doubt Kirby's sanity, as well as the people around her. It's interesting how the theories in the minds of those following the series can change overnight.

Besides that, illuminated it deals with violence against women and as even wanting to help, men often end up becoming possessive and make decisions thinking only of their own good, thinking it is for the woman's. This happens sometimes with Kirby, when everyone talks about her, but no one really goes to her who is the real victim.

Another aspect well done is Dan's alcoholism and still having to take care of a teenage son alone. Wagner Moura's character is well driven and believable. It has mistakes that any parent who has never had a child and/or a base will make. But at the same time it is present, in its own way.

illuminated it's a difficult series if you miss a scene or don't pay attention to small details like hairstyle, clothes and events involving Kirby. But by focusing entirely on the plot, the viewer will have the happy reward of a well-crafted mystery series with a surprising ending.
