In a dystopian future, in 2044, Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), like the rest of humanity, prefers the virtual reality of the OASIS game to the real world. When the game's creator, eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance) dies, players must discover the key to a diabolical puzzle to win his priceless fortune. To win, however, Watts will have to abandon virtual existence and give in to a life of love and reality from which he has always tried to escape.

And finally Player number 1 hit the movie screens!

The book was practically born as a classic in 2011 and is a celebration of nerd pop culture, from movies, series, music, comics, among others, from the 70's and 80's. There are references to everything imaginable.

Player number 1, it's not just a tribute, it's an RPG game, those old table games where the master passes several challenges and the players must solve the mysteries.
Here, the story begins with Halliday's death, which leaves a great mystery so that Players can discover the 3 keys and pass the stage, until the final moment when they will receive the grand prize, which is the OASIS itself, created by him.

During this adventure, inside the OASIS, which is a virtual universe where people practically live in this dystopian future, they will have to face not only the villains, known by the company IOI, but also themselves.

The book, like the movie, was called The New Matrix. Well, forget about this comparison because one movie has nothing to do with the other. In Player #1, people know where they are and what they are doing. There is no such thing as a “conspiracy” to maintain a Matrix.

One of the negative points of the film is the lack of an initial narration to situate the viewer in this new society of the near future, where work, food, life itself, is more than just a problem. This society is more depressing and it's one of the reasons why people live in the OASIS, so they can be someone else they crave so much. Inside, the Player can be anyone, from a great hero, an alien, even a student or worker, as large companies see the OASIS as a business opportunity.
And this was missing from the film. This point to leave the viewer with a better immersion with this society and be more enchanted with the characters.

Anyway, Player number 1 it's a great movie! An excellent adaptation of a book and even games.

And let the curtains go up! To the next!
