new bet of Apple TV +, Servant it's a flashy debut for having the filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan involved in the project.

Created by Tony Basgallop the production delivers a hideous plot that begins with the arrival of the young nanny Leanne (Nell Tiger Free) at the couple's home Sean (Toby Kebbell) and Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose). However, the nanny was hired to look after an unusual baby, Jericho, the couple's child, is actually a realistic doll that replaces the real dead child.

Over the course of events, the series shows why Dorothy believes that this doll is her real child and why Sean and his brother-in-law Julian (Rupert Grint) embrace this story so much and protect Dorothy from the truth.

Surrounded by mysteries, the work wanders between psychological realism and the supernatural to explain the – somewhat bizarre – situations that are presented. Leanne carries a huge amount of suspense, always leaving it open if it's some sort of mysterious being that manages to bring the baby back to life, or just a nutcase trying to support Dorothy's beliefs. On the other hand, Sean represents the realist with hope, who, even without believing that a miracle could have happened, embraces luck and lets himself go. It's the same character who makes the arguments for a possible supernatural evident, having inexplicable health problems that prove the nanny's hideous side.

The tone of the work and its photography are in charge of Shyamalan, who blatantly displays the elements that make his productions authorial. Spending almost entirely at the couple's house, the season has a dark environment with cool colors, without neglecting the red and black, which carry the visual identity.

The first season of Servant it ends up leaving many explanations open, closing only the arc of past events in the plot and leaving the resolution about Leanne to the new years. For fans of the well-known mystery of Shyamalan, it's a full plate. With an interesting and intimate plot, which stirs parents' fears, it has the ability to please all audiences, as long as they like a thriller with long-term revelations.
