The Good Place found its place by balancing religious criticism with current pinpricks. Presenting a different version of paradise, the series managed to do a great job of having fun in the right measure during its first season and now repeats the formula in its second year.

Without fear of daring, The Good Place debuted already dealing with sensitive subjects, and throughout the episodes, only the critical content and acid humor increased. With the twists and turns of the script, the question remained as to how they could maintain quality without falling into sameness and eventually become another comedy with repetitive jokes and failed attempts to entertain.

Impressively, the production managed not only to maintain, but to improve the quality in its second year, using a risky, but very effective device: reboots. After the revelation of the previous plot, the chosen path was to redo everything, where the story restarts and makes the new episodes a blank slate for the new adventures. Contrary to popular belief, this feature does not make the season repetitive, but even more original. The new arguments about “Local Bom” give space to introduce new characters that only add to the script and give an opportunity to explore the talent of the cast - especially D'Arcy Carden, which maintains two great versions of Jane.

Michael Schur continues to impress with his ideas. Literally reinventing the series, the creator never loses his hand and manages to take the entire season without slipping into humor, maintaining a balance between sarcasm, social (and entertainment) criticism, comic relief and a hint of romance.

The cast, with the exception of the aforementioned D'arcy, maintains the level of performance, even though the majority grows in relation to their role, while the protagonist ends up being diminished. With the change presented in the plot, Eleanor (Kristen Bell) loses a little of its prominence, keeping its participation equal to that of colleagues, but without losing its brilliance.

The Good Place arrived with a doubtful proposal in relation to its future, but thanks to the game of waist of its creator, managed to raise the quality this season. A different and content comedy, the series impresses in critical quality while having fun.
