The adaptation of homonymous books by Andrzej Sapkowski debut in the service being nothing short of sensational. The script is conducted in a way that promises to please fans who know all the details of the franchise, as well as leaving each part presented in a satisfactory way for those who have never had contact with the original works.

The plot is focused on Geralt (Henry Cavill), which guides the main events, taking through their meetings the presentation of new characters and explanations about their past, or the places where they are. In this universe there seems to be no distinction between good, bad or correct, the motivations of each individual will lead him to do what he considers right, even if it does not necessarily mean something good. In this way, decisions are made through “lesser evil”. The monsters that the protagonist must face do not always have prey or attack at night, they are what we cultivate, regardless of what is their race.

The great criticism, very well presented in the events, is how much the motivation of each character justifies innumerable manipulations, in one way or another, everyone uses techniques to make the person give him what he needs, regardless of the pain that this may cause. The series demonstrates that since a child, even an old man, they know how to manipulate in some way to achieve their intent. And this is a lesser evil.

Another positive point is how our world is transported into the history of The Witcher. Great genocides of humanity are there, in addition to racism and how people deal with these facts. Prejudice is shown in the details, always reinforcing the way, regardless of their race or color, the characters are dislocated by their differences, whether they are a simple pointed ear, defects in their body, the place where they were born and so on.

Conveying this to the viewer, the plot of The Witcher he is convincing and manages to hold his attention without difficulty, to the point of not even realizing that an hour has passed since the episode, and to go straight to the next.

A good script does not always guarantee the performance of the actors. The reverse can also be said. The actors who make up the main and supporting cast managed to convey all the essence of the well-known characters. The entire cast, even the short appearances, deliver their role in such a convincing way, that it is possible to forget that they are playing with big names like Cavill.

The good work of the adaptation is certainly the highlight of the production. There are certain changes in the story, such as the exchange of one character for another, but this in no way affects the course of the plot and, in some cases, manages to add in relation to the sentimental weight. Its 8 episodes pass quickly, with scenarios that were practically removed from the books, packed with a soundtrack that is always regretful and battles that manage to provoke excitement in the viewer.

The commented battle scenes are coherent and do not use the famous and boring nervous cameras, which are shaking all the time and taking the focus away from the fights. Nor are dry cuts or just zoom in on the actors' faces, the methods used are the old ones, with an open focus showing the terrain and the fighters, giving the real impression of being there watching the fight, without losing any detail.

The Witcher debuts the expectations of the fans. Being a great adaptation of fantasy books, the production promises to please those who have never seen anything about the universe and overflow with enthusiasm to those who have known for a long time.
