Syfy ordered a TV series based on the film by George A. Romero Day of the Dead, known in Brazil as Day of the Dead. The 10-episode series focuses on six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion.
Romero's celebrated film was the third in his trilogy Night of the Undead. a remake entitled Dawn of the Dead was created in 2004, directed by Zack Snyder.
Day of the Dead will be produced by Cartel Entertainment. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas will serve as showrunners.
In addition, the channel ordered The Surrealtor, series where the realtor Nick Roman and a team of elite experts handle cases that no one else can: haunted and owned houses that literally scare potential buyers. Researching, investigating and "fixing" the things that happen overnight, the team works to create closure - and closure - even as they struggle with their own demons. The 10 episode production is produced by Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron and George Olson, which will also act as showrunner.
Both series are set to debut in 2021.
