Disney Plus: Qual será o futuro das plataformas de streaming? 1
Disney Plus arrives in Brazilian territory in November / Reproduction

A lot of people got their hair up when they heard about the arrival of Disney Plus streaming here in Brazil. Scheduled for November, the giant promises entertainment with original and exclusive content. The catalog is well stuffed with all the studio's animations, in addition to the "Star Wars" and Marvel movies - except Spider-Man, which belong to Sony - and several musicals and documentaries. Despite being welcome – and much awaited – the platform, which has not yet announced a price, raised a certain very important question: will we have the money to pay for so much streaming? That is the question…

Currently, many platforms compete for the attention of customers, thus promising access to exclusive productions, which we usually cannot see on open TV. Let's go to the values:

Netflix – R$ 45.90 (PREMIUM)

Amazon Prime – R$ 9.90

Apple+ – R$ 9.90

Globoplay – R$ 22.90 (monthly)

HBO GO – R$ 34.90

And yet the market has other platforms like Starz Play (R$ 14.90) and Looke (R$ 9.90). If you're someone who likes diversity and doesn't have a snake in your pocket, the total of all these amounts in your financial budget is R$ 148.30. Now put the electricity, water, internet and landline bills, cell phone bills, market, transport (private – car/motorbike or public bus, subway, etc.), pets or children or both, school, college, courses, rent, property tax and so on. The question is this: there is a possibility that Disney Plus has the value of R$ 28.00. If you add R$ 148.30 (total sum of platforms above) with R$ 28.00 (Disney+), it gives the total of R$ 176.30. Is it possible to keep all these fixed accounts for the month at an average income of *R$ 2.261,00? You will hardly be able to keep all these accounts, even more so in the current moment when we are experiencing a health crisis, where the costs of almost everything (if not everything) has increased.

The current scenario invites us to reflect on our priorities in life. Is having an excessive amount of platforms for accessing original content really worth it if thousands of people don't have enough to eat? If many depend on donations, it will probably be the only way for this person to survive amid the chaos created by the negligence of our rulers and the emergence of the coronavirus... of the emergence of Covid-19 and any other disease.

It is important, yes, to have access to entertainment. But the emergence of one or more possibilities of access to different contents, makes us think about having to give up one to have access to another, in order to fit in the balance of the monthly budget that, as mentioned before, already has other expenses. . It is a novelty to be questioned and well thought out…
