The twelfth season of Doctor Who premiered recently and again, without the traditional Christmas special episode. Like most of the public, David Tennant, interpreter of the Tenth Doctor, is not liking the change of changing the Christmas special to the New Year's special.

On a panel during a convention he attended alongside Matt Smith, the Eleventh Doctor, the actor expressed his confusion at the end of this tradition and claimed he would like the specials to revert to the old format.

Doctor Who airs at Christmas a themed episode from the first season of the classic era, starring William Hartnell, in the 60s. The tradition was changed only in 2018, when the changes of Showrunnerif Jodie Whittaker took over the role of the protagonist and it was announced that there would be no Christmas special. That year, it was revived as a New Year's Special, which kicked off the new season on January 1.

According to Tennant, these are the moments of his participation in the series that he is most proud of: “This is the part I miss the most”, to which Matt Smith added, “There is something magical about being on television on Christmas Day. ”. It is worth remembering that David began his legacy as a Doctor in one of these specials.

The twelfth season of the series is airing on BBC. In Brazil, production is available in Globoplay.
