The events market has returned this year, 2023. Even though many international events like E3 may have declared their end, others like BGS, CCXP, to quote Brazil, showed their strength. And who better to talk about this market than the cultural platform Beplauze? In an interview with Thunder Wave, the platform talked about the events of 2023, what were the most popular events and what we can expect for 2024, check it out below.

1. What is the Beplauze platform and how can users use it?

Beplauze is a cultural platform that brings together all the events of the biggest cities in one place: theaters, parties, shows, exhibitions and much more. The service is free to the public and offers pages dedicated to each city's programming. To encourage users to enjoy local culture, Beplauze offers the option of a monthly subscription of R$ 9.90 and, in return, discounts of up to 50% on various attractions. Currently, the platform is available in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Salvador and Porto Alegre. The public can download the app for free or access the official website.

2. After Covid, a lot has changed in the events market. Companies that were certain in a certain segment are no longer there. Others began holding online meetings. How do you see this market currently?

During the pandemic, the events sector needed to reinvent itself. For safety reasons, crowds and face-to-face meetings were not possible. As a result, many institutions and organizations that had a structure began to provide online culture. On the other hand, those who did not have the possibility of this transition to digital ceased to exist. Post-covid-19 is and continues to be a learning experience. However, in-person events are all the rage! Festivals, exhibitions, theaters are crowded, which is normal since many events have been postponed, but online is also here to stay and many people have started to enjoy this new way of consuming culture. I see the culture market increasingly on the rise and I hope for that. Our artists need to be prestigious and organizations need an audience.

3. Has there been any change in the number of events and the demand for them in 2023?

For sure. If we look at the market as a whole, we can see the large number of shows, plays, exhibitions, etc. that are being carried out. According to the Brazilian Association of Event Promoters (Abrape), the segment moved, on average, R$ 57 billion in the first quarter of 2023 alone, that is, 14.4% more than in 2022. As we recently arrived on the market, we started to operating in August 2023, we were unable to make this balance with 2022, but we can say that this reflects in the searches that users make on Beplauze.

4. The cultural area in Brazil grew again in 2023 and looks promising for next year. What behind-the-scenes work does Beplauze do to help promote culture?

Beplauze has a private culture promotion fund in which the full value of the first three months of subscription, and after that 10% of all revenue, will be allocated by Beplauze to a private culture promotion fund to sponsor new artists and special projects. We know how much the sector needs help and being able to contribute to this is extremely proud. The amounts are intended for artists and organizations that need it most. With this, we have a team that selects the profiles to allocate the values.

5. Returning to the platform, what were the most held and sought-after events in 2023?

Beplauze has a peak of more than 1800 active events on the platform. We have attractions for all tastes. The most searched categories on Beplauze are:

  1. Shows
  2. Theaters
  3. Standup
  4. Rock
  5. Parties
  6. Exhibitions
  7. Samba
  8. Comedy
  9. Museums
  10. MPB

6. What is Beplauze preparing for 2024?

For now, we cannot reveal all the plans. We want to create suspense, but we will have a lot of news. Users can expect more events, improvements and discounts.

It is worth mentioning that Beplauze does not sell tickets, but directs users to ticketing websites. We want to be a platform to facilitate the search for events and a resource for organizations and artists to promote their attractions for free. We have many events and for those who like games and the nerd universe we have events in this category too. Thus, the public of Thunder Wave you can enjoy it even more.
