There are films that simply do not attract attention, or are so poorly publicized that they do not reach the necessary reach and end up being forgotten, however good the plot is. This is the case of This is Your Death- The Show (This is Your Death), that because it has almost no marketing work and looks like a common horror movie, it probably won't have the deserved box office, but it's a wonderful production.

At first glance, the work may look like just a dramatic exposure of deaths, if judged by the poster and trailer. The plot shows Adam Rogers (Josh Duhamel), presenter of a reality show of relationships (of the style The Bachelor) who suffers a small trauma when witnessing the losing participant of the final stage murder the candidate for fiance and then commit suicide.

After this incident, obviously, the program is discontinued, but the repercussion of the event was so great that it gives the head of the broadcaster, Ilana Katz (Famke Janssen), the idea of creating a very controversial reality. With the help of the company's best producer, Sylvia (Caitlin FitzGerald), she decides to start a show where the participants will commit suicide live, presented by Adam Rogers himself.

It is at this point that the first behavioral analysis appears. Moral dilemmas, controversial decisions and greed are widely explored in the Noah Pink and Kenny Yakkel, who manages to manipulate the viewer to feel exactly what the plot needs to go through at that moment. Exactly for this reason, the feature presents some twists and unpredictable situations that do not let the rhythm or the interest of the public drop.

To increase the contradiction exposed in the production, there are two situations that show the complications of everyday life. The subplot starring Giancarlo Esposito is in charge of much of the family's love of the work, placing an enormous emotional burden to balance the violence of the show. Esposito gives life to a family man who faces a double workday to be able to support his children, but even with the help of his wife's job he cannot manage everything. This character is brilliantly inserted in the coexistence of the station responsible for the show, and in many moments carries the story on his back.

And to expose the decent side of the presenter, there is the insertion of his sister Karina (Sarah Wayne Callies), a former drug addict who managed to rise with the help of his brother and now appears on the scene whenever it is necessary to deepen the emotional bonds of both characters, but is also responsible for the scene that manages to completely conquer the viewer.

The direction of Giancarlo Esposito deserves an honorable mention. Without strategic cuts and close-ups that increase the dramatic load of the scene, the script's message would not be so accurate. Nor can I fail to comment on the performance of Josh Duhamel, who after spending years in shallow roles finally got his chance to give life to a more elaborate protagonist and show that he does indeed have a lot of talent.

It is the joining of well-formed elements that makes This is Your Death remarkable production. With an original and bold script, great performances, direct direction and well-placed effects, it is almost impossible not to have a great movie. Add all this to the element of surprise and a well-argued social criticism and the result is a feature film that will grow in the viewer and certainly stay in the memory for a long time.
