The long-awaited meeting of Friends gives HBO Max it is still due to open in May, even though filming has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The special - which will bring together all six original stars from Friends again - should start recording next Monday and Tuesday in the studio Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, California. However, in the current global pandemic and health concerns, production has been delayed until May, although a new filming date has not been determined. The hope is still to have the special debut of Friends in May, along with the launch of HBO Max.

All six original cast members - Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer - must meet for the special, still without the exclusive title of the new platform streaming gives WarnerMedia. When HBO Max launches in May (with an exact date yet to be announced), the special and all 236 episodes of the beloved series from NBC will be available to subscribers.

Ben Winston (The Late Late Show With James Corden) will direct the special and act as an executive producer alongside the executive producers of Friends Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane.
