O Amazon Studios confirmed the production of the second season of the series Good Omens. The multi-award winning actors Michael Sheen (Quiz, Staged) and David Tennant (Des, Staged) are confirmed to reprise their main roles as the angel Aziraphale and the devil Crowley, respectively, an unlikely duo that banded together to save the world from the apocalypse.

The comedy fantasy drama's second season will feature six episodes, which will begin shooting later this year in Scotland and premiere on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

The new season will explore stories that go beyond the source material to illuminate the mysterious friendship between Aziraphale, a demanding angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-paced demon Crowley. Having been on Earth since the beginning and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley are easily returning to live among mortals in London's Soho district when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery.

Neil Gaiman continues as executive producer and will be co-showrunner together with the executive producer Douglas Mackinnon, who will also return to direct the series. Rob Wilkins, John Finnemore and BBC Studios Productions Head of Comedy Josh Cole will also executive produce, with Finnemore acting as co-writer alongside Gaiman.

Good Omens is based on the bestseller 'Good Omens', in Terry Pratchett (Hogfather) and Gaiman. The new season is produced by Amazon Studios, BBC Studios Productions, The Blank Corporation and Narrativia.

Neil Gaiman says: “It's been thirty-one years since 'Good Omens' was published, which means it's been thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay on our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention and planned the sequel. I had to use pieces of the sequence from Good Omens – is where our angels came from. Terry is no longer here, but when he was, we talked about what we wanted to do with Ggood omens and where the story would go. And now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I can take you there. I've listed some wonderful contributors, and John Finnemore came aboard to carry the torch with me. There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next (and also what happened before) to our favorite angel and demon. Here are the answers you've been waiting for. We're back in Soho, and across time and space, solving a mystery, which starts with an angel wandering around Soho, with no memory.”

Douglas Mackinnon says: "Take Good Omens to my home country of Scotland to shoot a second season is an exciting dream come true for me. And with Michael Sheen and David Tennant returning as Aziraphale and Crowley, we really do have an angel and a devil on our side.”

Rob Wilkins says: “Terry and Neil always knew that Crowley and Aziraphale wouldn't be happy to appear in just one story, and they've long had plans to expand their adventures. David and Michael's stellar performances made this an absolute necessity. Terry would be delighted with the way they've brought their characters to life, and just as happy as I am that a second season is underway.”

Says Michael Sheen: “Personally, I'm against it, but the world isn't just going to save itself, is it? If David and I can manage not to fight so bad this time, we might even have a chance to break up.”

David Tennant says: “The return of Good Omens it's great news for me personally. Once I get to work with Michael again, I can say Neil's wonderful words once again. It's probably worse for the universe, as it almost certainly means there will be some new existential threat to deal with your existence, but, you know – swings and roundabouts…”.

Good Omens was released globally as a limited series on Prime Video in May 2019.
