O Cabiria Audiovisual Festival and the hysteria, a platform for professional stimulation and opening of space for narratives made by and about women, announce the realization of the III MIP - Shows Possible Imaginariesthis year, in partnership with the paraphernalia, a comedy sketch channel, which joins the initiatives for an edition focused on humorous microfilms.
One of the actions of the fourth edition of the festival, which takes place in person between July 27th and 30th in São Paulo, extending until August 3rd online, the MIP searches for microfilms with a minimum length of 30″ (seconds) and a maximum of 3′ (minutes), made by female filmmakers of diverse gender identity, amateur or professional. Up to 10 titles will be selected to be shown on the digital channels of Hysteria, Parafernalha and the festival. Registration is free and can be done between the May 9th and 29th at the linktree of the festival.
The objective of the exhibition is to encourage audiovisual reports, produced with smartphones or professional cameras, on the theme “Our Daily Perrengue“. Microfilms that, with humour, acidity, daring, affection and hope, creatively describe our daily struggles to release the laughter of revolution and revisit themes, however antagonistic they may be.
“In its third year, the Shows Possible Imaginaries, created in partnership by Hysteria and Cabíria Festival, has evolved into a trisal and we are very happy to incorporate Parafernalha in this relationship. Since 2017, Hysteria has been amplifying female voices and anxieties through the most diverse formats of content, and as we still live in an extremely sexist society, this journey is not always a joyful one. That's why it's a pleasure, and a certain relief, to call on female directors to laugh at our own struggles, without ever losing sight of the struggle!”, declares Isabel De Luca, head of Hysteria.
The MIP is a space for the dissemination of content for digital platforms and contributes to the dissemination of filmmakers' portfolio. “We are very much celebrating this triple partnership, it expands the scope of the MIP for the public and reinforces the existence of female screenwriters specializing in the coveted genre of humor to provoke an increase in diversity in the sector”, reinforces Vânia Matos, director and executive producer of the Festival.
“Parafernalha is entering its second decade as a reference in Brazilian internet humor, and this trisal with Cabíria and Hysteria is a very important milestone for the beginning of a new, more mature phase, in which we seek to rescue our origins, but with a new look. . Gambiarras, perrengues and everyday situations of Brazilians have always been an essential part of our content, and we see humor as a powerful tool for identification, relief and liberation. That's why we want to invite women to use this tool and laugh at our own daily struggles.” adds Marina Croce, general director of Parafernalha.
