Zombie Invasion 2: Peninsula is more of the same

Zombie Invasion 2: Peninsula, is the sequence of Train to Busan 2016, directed by Yeon Sang-ho. His presentation was originally scheduled for the Cannes Festival, but was canceled due to the pandemic of COVID-19. Which seemed to be a good one for the movie.

The long one is even good and is for fun, in case you don't want to compare it with the first one, which is impossible. In this new adventure, which takes place 4 years later, we have new characters and a relatively interesting story, showing that only South Korea was affected by the zombie infection. It's even logical, mainly because of its geographic location, that is, a peninsula.

The beginning of the film is interesting showing these new characters and how the country is doing. But it ends there. From this part onwards, Peninsula is a drama that seems to have been made by someone fan of Mexican soap operas. The film comes up against wanting to be something different from the first one, but it becomes the most of the same of several films of the American genre.

Long scenes almost paused to show the drama of the characters, tears that never end, and certain parts get to irritate because they are so idiots. Who would stand by and watch as a horde of zombies comes running to get you? And not only that, but the car action scenes are ridiculous.

Ridiculous for using so much CGI that it seems the cars were taken from some game in the Playstation 2! The chases also border on sadness, with arcade game mechanics where the cars crash and don't dent, and all the cars are always parked so the action can happen! Didn't understand, review the trailer and pay attention to how they are all strategically abandoned on the sides of streets, bridges and avenues.

But, in case you forget you're seeing a sequel, even Zombie Invasion 2 might please. It has a good script, with even funny hints, but nothing scary. The characters are just screen actors who do not empathize.

Unfortunately, Zombie Invasion 2: Peninsula decided to adopt the American horror cliché, with a lifeless story, but with a script that promised a lot.
