the documentary series McMillion﹩ premieres Monday, February 10 at 11 pm on HBO and on HBO GO. In six episodes, the plot explores the impressive case of the criminal mastermind known as Uncle Jerry, which between 1989 and 2001 carried out scams involving a promotional action by the McDonalds with the Monopoly board game.

By stealing valuable cards from the game, Jerry was able to manually select the winners, deceive the authorities, and illicitly share the prizes. The fraud, which started with Jerry's family and friends, quickly expanded to involve ex-convicts linked to the Mafia.

In 1987, McDonald's struck a deal with Simon Marketing Ltd. to implement a promotion alongside the Monopoly board game, in which game cards could be found on McDonald's product packaging or in chain brochures. Those cards that were awarded could be exchanged for rewards – ranging from hamburgers to US﹩ 1 million.

In 2001, the FBI department in Jacksonville, Florida received an anonymous tip that many of the winners were relatives and that a massive fraud scheme was controlled by Uncle Jerry. As the FBI investigation, dubbed Operation Final Response, progressed, Assistant US Attorney Mark Devereaux accepted the charge, considering that there was sufficient evidence of a coup.

McMillion﹩ narrates the story from the account of FBI agents who worked tirelessly to discover Jerry's true identity, help those who had been deceived, and end the hoax.
