Ms. Marvel, the new original series from Marvel Studios, premieres on June 8th exclusively on Disney +. The production features Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), an American Muslim teenager who grows up in Jersey City. A fan of the geek world, Kamala is passionate about the world of superheroes – especially when it comes to Captain Marvel. However, the girl feels like she doesn't fit in at school and sometimes even at home - that is, until she gains superpowers like the heroes she's always looked up to.

Diversity is something present in the series, enriched by the presence of cast and crew of different nationalities, as well as strong female participation. Meet the names behind this great production below:

Bisha K. Ali is a 30-year-old British-Pakistani screenwriter and comedian. Main screenwriter of the new Disney series, he specializes in science fiction and comedy of a political and personal nature, mainly stand-up, in addition to collaborating with Loki, exclusive series of Marvel Studios available on Disney+.

SANA AMANAT

creator of Ms. Marvel for the HQs, Sana Amanat is a comic book artist and content editor for Marvel. A Pakistani-American Muslim, she is responsible for bringing to life the first female superhero of her religion in the studio. Sana has also worked on comic books featuring characters such as Captain Marvel, Hawkeye and Spider-Man.

Meera Menon is an Indian-American director, writer and editor. Responsible for directing two episodes of the new series of Disney +, also contributed to other productions such as The Walking Dead, The Magicians, Outlander, The Avenger, among other series.

SHARMEEN OBAID-CHINOY

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a Pakistani-born journalist, activist and filmmaker. She is the first Pakistani woman to receive an Oscar® and the first woman to win the award twice in the Best Documentary Short Film category. She received the statuettes for her documentaries Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. In Ms. Marvel, Sharmeen is the director of three episodes.  

ADIL EL ARBI AND BILALL FALLAH

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are a duo of Belgian film and television directors of Moroccan descent. They are mainly known for driving Bad Boys for Life, the third film in the world-renowned Bad Boys franchise. In Ms. Marvel are responsible for directing two episodes.
