Lin-Manuel Miranda announced that a cinematic and filmed version of his award-winning musical Hamilton, with the original cast of Broadway, will be launched by Disney in October 2021.

Miranda is producing the feature alongside Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Kail. Kail also directed the theatrical production and the film, which the studio described as a leap in the art of “live capture”, with the aim of providing a cinematic experience of the show.
The filmed version features Tony's winning cast that includes Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, along with Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Leslie Odom Jr., Christopher Jackson, Jonathan Groff, Phillipa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Okieriete Onaodowan and Anthony Ramos.
The Disney, who cast Miranda in her first big screen role with Mary Poppins Returns, 2018, secured the rights to one of Broadway's biggest recent hits. Rival Warner Bros. is launching a film version of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first musical, In the Heights, which will be released in theaters on June 26.
