the series of Obi-Wan Kenobi it was announced early last year and since then a lot of news has come out about the production. Most of them were rumors, but it was enough to confuse fans' heads. We explain below everything that has been released and how the current situation of the series is.

In recent weeks, rumors have surfaced that the series was canceled due to "creative differences". The news took great proportions after a parody profile of the site DiscussingFilm disclose the cancellation information. The confusion arose because the mentioned site is reputable and the information quickly circulated on the internet. However, the one who actually Tweeted it was @DicsussingFilm (note the misspelling), starting a huge fake news

After what happened, Ewan McGregor's representatives discovered the rumor and made a statement to the CBR denying the information, calling the cancellation rumors "totally inaccurate", explaining that the project is still moving forward as planned.

After clarifying that the series was still going strong in the planning of the Disney +, the justifications for the delays began. Initially, information said that now the delay was due to a problem with filming, as the idea is to set the production on the planet Tatooine. In the original and previous trilogies, most of the Tatooine scenes were filmed in Tunisia (with a few in the US). But the current political situation in Tunisia makes filming difficult, so the team looked elsewhere. The next plans were to recreate the planet in an Australian desert, but the fires in the country also made that possibility impossible, leaving the recordings paused for the moment.

However, yesterday the news came out that the production had been shelved. According to information from Collider, production was paused, with the entire crew laid off. The site's sources said that the show's producer and president of LucasFilms, Kathleen Kennedy was not happy with the screenplay work and intended to rework the screenplays, leaving the production in limbo indefinitely.

Denying all the rumors - but without fully explaining the reasons for the delays - McGregor's team and the actor himself gave the final statement. The series will resume in January 2021, with no premiere date set.
