After exploring how the PCC became the biggest criminal faction in Brazil in its first season, the series now dedicates two unprecedented episodes to the organization's expansion to countries like Paraguay, Colombia and Bolivia.
With direction João Wainer (from documentaries "June – the month that shook Brazil" and "Pixo”), the series is a production of MOV.doc, UOL's documentary seal, and features reporting by Flavio Costa and Luis Adorno.
By portraying the context of internal conflicts, narrative disputes and violence within the organization, the production focuses on the story of two of the greatest PCC leaders: Gegê do Mangue, killed in an ambush in Ceará, and André do Rap, one of the most criminals currently wanted by the international police.
Murilo Garavello, content director at UOL, highlights: “After the success of its debut, the series is now launching its second season, and continues the investigation into one of the largest drug trafficking organizations in South America. from UOL, which was responsible for a long investigation to understand how the PCC managed to establish branches outside Brazil, leading the drug trade in the region”.
During six months of investigation, UOL interviewed experts and authorities who follow the PCC's history for the production of the series. During this period, the team witnessed one of the biggest cocaine seizures of 2020, at the port of Santos: 630 kilograms of the drug's base paste, destined for Hamburg, Germany.
Another central event covered by the series was the controversial decision of Minister Marco Aurélio Mello, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to grant habeas corpus to André do Rap, who walked out the front door of the prison last year. André was supposed to remain at his home in Guarujá, but he was never seen again.
