primeiras impressoes about a boy

About a Boy it's the new comedy on the channel NBC, which was inspired by the book and movie (the one with the Hugh Grant) of the same name.

As soon as I finished watching the pilot, the first thought that came to my mind was: Sounds promising, but it's still NBC... The channel is famous for not being able to move forward with its comedies, but About a Boy is well above average. channel quality.

About a Boy show us Will (David Walton, our dear Sam from New Girl), one of those typical guys who has no intention of starting a family in the near future. This is very well presented at the beginning of the episode, when he leaves taking care of his friend's son to go after a beautiful woman, and still makes up a completely limitless story in the process. Marcus (the very cute Benjamin Stockham) and his mother Fiona (Minnie Driver), a woman who battles depression by doing meditations and is vegan, move in next door, Will sees his life take a small turn as the boy becomes attached to him.

Of course, the plot is not original and maybe it's this fact that stopped me from really liking the series, along with the fact that it's one of those that use a cute guy and a cute child to captivate the audience, but as a comedy it does its job well. . Fiona with her extreme naturalistic way and her son who clearly only pretends to follow the same principles probably managed to make a lot of people laugh, even if it wasn't my case. To be honest, I really liked the series in about the final 5 minutes of the episode, but I can see it pleasing the general public.

about-a-boy.

As I always say here, comedy is always something freer where the real criterion ends up being “it made you laugh, you can watch it”. About a Boy It may not be the best comedy of recent times, but it deserves a chance.
