Chicago P.D

“God cop, Bad cop.”

Chicago PD (the spinoff of Chicago Fire) debuted on NBC and one more time Dick Wolf proved that he can make a series with quality. The story revolves around the police officers of District 21 where Sgt. Voight (Jason Beghe) commands an intelligence team. The cast also includes Detectives Antonio Dawson (Jon Silk), Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), and Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) all of them reprising their previously featured role in Chicago Fire.

The pilot managed to hold my attention the entire time and I noticed that the script was tightly packed and consistent. What I liked the most (besides the shootings and chases) was the pace of the episode where at no time I could breathe and I wanted to find out the outcome of the case soon.

It was also nice to see the presentation of the characters in a different way because we already knew them from CF, I particularly didn't like Voight in CF because he was arrogant and unscrupulous but I ended up clinging to this pilot because now he thinks about the good of his team and appears to be a different police officer. To close this great pilot, the clifhanger where Antonio's son is kidnapped left me wanting to see the next episode at the same time.

I hope that both Dick Wolf and the writers are able to maintain the momentum presented in this pilot throughout the season. The ratings were satisfactory with 2.0 in the demo and 8.7 million beating the CF pilot last year, and I hope it stays that way.

Ps: Nice to see the cameos coming from Chicago Fire (laughs with Hermann and Otis at the bar) and realize that this will happen more often as it is clear that Fire and Police work together and I hope Severide giving your air of grace.
