Enlisted

We all love a free and simple comedy that we watch just for a laugh. Enlisted, new comedy from Fox, arrived with the intention of fulfilling this role and being a free comedy and making us laugh, however, it failed in this mission. Because it was created by Kevin Biegel, same creator of Scrubs and Cougar Town, Enlisted gave us the hope of being a follower of these very free comedies, which makes the viewer laugh a lot, a real reward at the end of a busy day. Unfortunately, and I say this with all the regret the word can carry, Enlisted didn't even come close to fulfilling that expectation. Maybe it's because of the lack of originality in the plot, or simply because the jokes are predictable, but the series didn't really please me.

The plot is very simple, three brothers who are following in their father's footsteps in the army and a clumsy troop that will do a lot of blunders in training to try to beat the well-trained troop. As is usually the case in this type of story, we have the super focused older brother who thinks he's the best at everything he does, Sergeant Pete(Geoff Stults), who is in charge of the clumsy troop; The middle brother who just wants to party,  derrick (Chris Lowell) and the younger brother, full of love for the family but very, very closed,  Randy (Parker Young). Parker Young's role is identical to his character Ryan, in Suburgatory (a series he shouldn't have left), and that bothered me a lot during the pilot. The family relationship was a strong point in this pilot, there were a lot of “fights” and displays of affection typical of siblings, showing a lot of that story of the older brother not showing much affection, while the youngest wants to see everyone loving each other.

Even though I think the plot is kind of cliché (hello police madam) I can see the series improving and pleasing many people, even since the pilot. The fact is that it is comedy, and even with the large number of recent comedy failures proving us otherwise, it can improve and go forward. Exactly because it doesn't have any promises coming its way, just showing Peter leading his squad against the super well organized guys, the series can only improve the jokes and get more laughs that will be wonderful.
