Inspired by real events, Notorious, narrates the relationship between the defense lawyer Mark Geragos and by the TV producer Wendy Walker, who worked together to manipulate the media in a big case. The two are executive producers of the work.

Notorious was announced as a very promising debut. With an incredible production team behind a real drama involving media and crime, two topics that are always hot on TV, the series had everything to be successful.

But not everything worked out. The pilot presents the story very well, showing in a frantic way the unfolding of the investigation and manipulation of the crime and making clear the intimate friendship between the lawyer Jake Gregorian (Daniel Sunjata) and the producer Julia George (Piper Perabo), but there is something missing to give that excitement and make the audience crazy to find out what happens. Even with the episode ending in a way that indicates that there is still a long complicated road ahead, it was missing that element that leaves curiosity and anxiety for the next chapters.

Maybe it's the fault of the famous marketing, which decided to release a trailer that doesn't differ at all from the pilot, just a shorter version, with the same revelations. Or maybe it's because the series relies heavily on the fact that it's based on a true story and doesn't focus on explaining that, it just expects the viewer to know that detail.

Notorious invested in telling the characters' past only in dialogues, and this made this beginning a little empty. Many twists and turns happen, which require a prior explanation about each person's personal involvement, and at times the impression is left that there is a lack of information.

Notorious makes it clear that there could have been much more in this pilot, but it doesn't fail as a series. There are great possibilities for the rest of the season to surprise, it just takes a little patience and hope.
