Razer acquires Interhaptics targeting haptics ecosystem

Agreement will allow the company to work closely with game development studios to integrate and expand their HyperSense technology-enabled portfolios.

The Razer, the global lifestyle brand for gamers, has just announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Go Touch VR SAS, also known as interhaptics, the leading haptic development platform for game studios.

Founded in 2017, Interhaptics is on a mission to provide consistent, realistic and immersive tactile solutions for PC, console, mobile and XR (extended reality) developers. The agreement will provide these developers with easy access to essential tools to ensure quality, agility and multiplatform deployment to their projects.

Always at the forefront of the technology industry, Razer creates products with the latest innovations to provide gamers with the most immersive gaming experience possible. Starting with the launch of the Razer Nari Ultimate in 2018, the brand introduced its proprietary HyperSense technology to the world, demonstrating how high-fidelity tactile sensation can deliver a deeper relationship with games, music and more.

Later, the same technology integrated the Kraken V3 HyperSense and Razer Kraken V3 Pro HyperSense headsets. With the acquisition of Interhaptics, Razer is poised to expand HyperSense to more products and build a haptic ecosystem alongside multi-platform game development studios.

“The haptic ecosystem has tremendous value for gamers,” said Eric Vezzoli, CEO of Interhaptics. “The opportunity to team up with Razer was an easy decision to make as the brand is committed to providing gamers with the most immersive gaming experience possible. We look forward to doing this as part of the Razer family.”

“As gamers at Razer, we know how important it is to create best-in-class products for a unique and personalized gaming experience,” said Alvin Cheung, Senior Vice President of Razer's Hardware Business Unit. "Interhaptics is the leader in haptic experiences and its development platform will be leveraged to expand the HyperSense ecosystem."

Following the acquisition by Razer, Interhaptics Founder and CEO Eric Vezzoli will join Razer as Associate Director of Haptic Experiences. Interhaptics will remain an independent company, but will be closely integrated into the Razer ecosystem.
