Based on the eponymous book by Rick Yancey, The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave) is being highly anticipated by fans. With a slightly different proposal from the fellows who deal with the same subject, The 5th Wave shows an alien attack on Earth, however, split into waves.

Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) is one of the survivors of this attack, which is currently on the fourth wave. The first wave brought a power outage across the planet, the second wave came with destruction by means of natural disasters, the third wave was an epidemic of a modified bird flu virus and finally, in the fourth wave, elimination began. of the remaining humans through hunters.

After being separated from her younger brother, the little one Sam (Zackary Arthur), Cassie sets out on a journey to rescue him. Along the way, she meets the mysterious Evan (Alex Roe), who saves his life and promises to help in his mission. At the same time, we know the resistance base, where ben parrish (Nick Robinson) is being trained, together with other children, at the behest of the Colonel Vosh (Liev Schreiber). As we try to figure out what the fifth wave will be, and who we can trust, Cassie continues her search for her brother.

A 5ª Onda

Like every adaptation, The 5th Wave undergoes some changes in relation to the book. I didn't consider any of them very serious, but it bothered me that they took the hints that Rick gives in his work to help us discover some important issues. A crucial difference that we can notice in the film is the cut of many transition moments, which were really unnecessary, but ended up leaving the ending a little too rushed.

the problem of The 5th Wave, both in the film and in the book, is the unconvincing proposal. I know that many fans will complain about what I'm talking about, but this attack leaves something to be desired in the explanations. As much as the author has put forward several reasons for having used the waves against Earth, there is always a little doubt about the need for them and the reason for not having destroyed the entire human race at once.

The production itself is very good. The effects are very well used, the photography leaves nothing to be desired and the makeup is beautiful in your work. For those who want to spend an afternoon at the cinema and enjoy a movie with good performances, beautiful scenery and a little action, The 5th Wave is a good choice.

The 5th Wave premieres on January 21 in Brazilian cinemas.
