The multiverse of Marvel has been expanding more and more in the cinematographic world, through it we already know the home of Gods and new Galaxies. Now, we can know new dimensions, guided by the Supreme Wizard, Doctor Strange.

New launch of Marvel Studios, Doctor Strange brings to the cinema screens a lot of magic. Another risky bet from the company, which dares to bring to the big screen a hero well targeted in the comics, but not very famous. Repeating the success formula used in Ant Man, equally unknown, the company delivers a new feature almost fail-safe.

Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a renowned and arrogant surgeon, who after suffering a serious car accident and being unable to use his hands, needs to stop exercising his beloved profession. Unable to accept his situation, Stephen goes after new treatments and ends up getting to know Elderly (Tilda Swinton), which teaches you the ways of magic and self-knowledge. In his training, Stephen learns about the evil forces of the Universe, which include the evil intentions of Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), a former apprentice of the Elder who decided to ally herself with the dark side.

The plot is developed in an agile and efficient way, explaining the trajectory of all the characters with small actions and insertions in dialogues, avoiding tiresome scenes. The famous comic relief of the works of Marvel, which has been working in all the films of the franchise, is also present here, however, it does not seem to be inserted as a company standard this time, the humor lives up to Strange and elements that we see in the comic.

The supernatural, obviously, is explored a lot in production and to prove that Doctor Strange revolves around mystical subjects, right in the first scene we are faced with a completely unusual scenario, in a way that only magic can do. It is interesting that this scene appears before showing Stephen’s past in the hospital, as it shows that even if it interweaves between magic and science, the essence of Doctor Strange it is in the supernatural without limits.

Cumberbatch's talent was never something to be doubted, but even though he knew that the actor was able to deliver an incredible performance to this character, his performance manages to impress us when he takes action. Without any difficulty, the actor can move from arrogance to despair or from despair to serenity in a matter of seconds. And it's not just the protagonist who makes the movie beautiful, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo), who were criticized by the public due to their characters' divergence from those of the HQ, were extremely convincing in their roles. The only caveat is for Mads Mikkelsen, who never fails to perform, but his villain leaves something to be desired.

The direction of Scott Derrickson proves to be competent, the director knew how to measure the scenes of action and magic, not exaggerating on either side. It is very interesting to see magic being used in fights, but the great triumph of Doctor Strange is the insertion of mystical elements very necessary for this new phase of Marvel.

Be sure to stay until the end of the credits, as there are two post-credits scenes, both important for the next releases of the franchise, showing events of Thor 3 and even the unconfirmed, but almost guaranteed, Doctor Strange 2.
