Bewitched is the first volume of the trilogy The Chronicles of the Witch Sisters.

The time when Witches were considered dangerous, persecuted and burned is still very much alive in our memory. Bewitched it takes place a little later than that time, around 1890, where they are still persecuted, but are sent to an asylum rather than certain death.

As the name suggests, The Witch Sisters Chronicles– the story focuses on three sisters who inherited their late mother's magic. kate, the eldest, was left with the mission of taking care of Maura and Tess, her younger sisters, having to teach them how to hide and control their magic. All of this becomes very complicated when Cate is about to turn 17 and, according to the laws of the time, she is already coming of age, having to decide between getting married or joining the sorority.

It is important to inform how everything works in this book. the brothers, the Incumbent Council, commanded everything and women were considered obedient beings, and only that. Even education itself was discouraged, on the grounds that women should know things from their fathers or husbands. This all reinforced the witch hunts, as they were the ones who most ran after knowledge.

To make matters worse, Cate discovers a prophecy involving the three sisters. According to her, the most powerful witch will raise up the witches, but one of the sisters will not live to see the turn of the century.

The book has a little bit of everything, romance, fantasy, suspense and of course, several references to the time. For a while I thought I was going to stay stuck in the romance/survival of a teenage witch, but quickly everything changes and the reading is almost impossible to put down. As the work is not very extensive, it is not difficult to finish on the same day.

As much as the premise involving prophecy with witch sisters is not exactly original, the fact that it is a period novel, with an exclusive policy, makes a difference. Bewitched other existing works. This book is worth letting yourself be enchanted by this book.

  1. I loved the review!! I started reading it a few weeks ago, but I ended up having to pause to pay attention to the partnership readings. I was enjoying it, so I hope to continue soon and enjoy it even more… Still, I don't know if I'll read the other two.

    Kisses!

  2. Hello all well?
I had heard about this book before, and I was really looking forward to reading it. I was also thinking that it would end up becoming a novel and at the moment I'm kind of "running away" from books like that.

  3. You know I couldn't read that book? My last blog was totally literary and I had received it from the publisher. But it turned out that a friend read it, I couldn't. I found it interesting, this premise always is, but something didn't hold me back.

    Nice post!

  4. hi ^^
I see people commenting very well on this book. As I like books that involve fantasy, I'm super interested in reading them and I hope I won't be disappointed.
    I liked your opinion.

  5. I think you were very happy with your review… What makes the work interesting to the reader is the context it presents. Not necessarily your theme. I haven't read the trilogy yet, but your perspective made me quite curious! I intend to invest in this reading.

    Kisses!
