Hunger Games, in Suzanne Collins, it's another one of those books that I didn't feel like reading, because I can't take any more teen books and when I finally decided to read, I loved it!

Hunger Games it takes place at a time when the world no longer exists as we know it, but districts run by the capital. There are 12 districts (there were 13, but the 13th was extinct), which are required to participate in the Hunger Games, where 2 tributes from each district are played in an arena to survive until only one remains, as a way for the capital to show its power over them . A new edition of the games takes place every year, where tributes, one female and one male, are drawn in the 'harvest'made by the capital in all districts. In this edition, Prim, sister of Katniss, is drawn and Katniss ends up volunteering to go in her place. Peeta, the baker's son who has a small moment in the past with Katniss, is the male tribute drawn.

Among the characters that need to be mentioned are Gale, Katniss' best friend. They usually hunt together every day and are very close, we quickly noticed that this friendship does not end there and clearly has a feeling involved between the two. Gale ends up having a small participation in this book, since he is almost entirely in games, but he it is very important for the development of the story.

The Thrush, which we see on the cover is explained to be the symbol of the Katniss district and the brooch is given to her by Madge, the mayor's daughter.

In the preparations for the games (each district has a mentor, parades and training and learning time before entering the game), we know Haymitch, who in my opinion is the best character, with his cynical way that we learn to love, Cinna, the wonderful and caring stylist, Caesar, the best presenter everyone will know and, finally, President Snow, who is the real head behind this blood ball. In the game, Katniss will have to use all the skill, cunning and trickery possible to be able to get out alive.

Hunger Games it has a divine narrative, which, aided by the despair that this absurd game proposes, becomes incredibly easy and fluid to read. Particularly, I didn't think there was much violence in him, which was to be expected by the theme, there are deaths and such, but the real despair of the book is in feeling what Katniss felt and had to do, not in the “explicit” violence.

Exactly because it was narrated by Katniss that the work pleased me. At various times I found myself thinking about how I would act in a situation like that and it just ended up holding me more in reading. It also has a good dose of romance, which just didn't make the book a little boring because it is interspersed with all the action.
