Continuing the events shown in The Dragonfly in Amber, O Rescue at Sea Part 1 focuses on showing us in detail what happened to Jamie and Claire in these twenty separate years.

While Claire continues her search, with the help of Roger and your daughter Brianna, to find out if Jamie survived all the problems after the battle in which he should have died, we fill the gaps in the couple's life over the years. We found that Claire became stronger as she was forced to overcome the separation to become a good mother, but without losing her personality and chasing her dream of becoming a doctor.

We also found that Jamie became a little bit bitter about having to overcome a lot on his own. As always, Jamie faced several moments of risk of death, betrayal, persecution, while he needed to overcome his wife's lack. All of this turns Jamie into a different person from the humorous Scotsman we know.

The most interesting of Rescue at Sea it is the change of narrative. With the separation of the couple, we see things from Jamie's point of view and not just narrated by Claire. This narrative was introduced in The Dragonfly in Amber, but Claire's point of view was still prevalent. Here we see everything that happened to Jamie with his thoughts.

Another point that stands out in Rescue at Sea It is like Diana Gabaldon there is no point without a knot. It is impressive to see how Diana managed to write a saga with such extensive volumes, rich in details, and still managed to rescue most of the events that seemed to be parallel in the plot. Many people and facts that appeared as 'Extras' in other books come back to fit some pieces in this one.

Rescue at Sea part 1 is the lightest reading of Outlander yet. The work literally ends in the middle, we don't have an ending or even a suspense in the last paragraphs to make us curious, just the end of a chapter that will continue only in the next book.
