The Blood of the Lamb, according to what the synopsis itself says, is a work that mixes the historical adventure style of Dan Brown with the supernatural narrative of Anne Rice.

With some trips to the past, we are introduced to the poet Mario Damiani, who in a letter says he found a very important document that could change the direction of the Church. Mario's discovery is not revealed, but it hides it for future generations to be able to use it.

At the present time, a threat has been made to expose the truth contained in this document to the people and the Vatican sends the historian Father Thomas Kelly in search of it so that it remains hidden. Livia Pietro, teacher and historian, receives the same order from her superiors. Soon, Thomas and Livia join forces and knowledge to find the dangerous Concordat. However, this union soon proves to be very complicated, when Thomas discovers that Livia and her people are vampires.

Combining a religious search with supernatural elements was an unlikely idea, but it worked. Simplicity was the secret of this success in The Blood of the Lamb. Putting Vampires in a religious story may seem incredibly forced, but when introduced in a very subtle way, without abusing the supernatural factor and having a reasonable explanation, it fits the context well.

This simplicity is also employed in the way events unfold. Everything takes place in about a day, with puzzles being presented and solved without much delay, which makes the focus the search, nothing more. This almost exclusive focus was what I liked most about reading, as a fan of mysteries I like to see and try to solve them, parallel events give the impression of just filling sausage, when what we really want to see is the resolution of the mystery that was given to us. sold.

The way in which the tips for everything that could happen were obligatorily placed was very pleasing to me. It’s always cool to read a mystery with all the information to try to unravel it together and The Blood of the Lamb does not fail in that respect. For those who know the teachings and history of the Catholic Church, - and of Rome, where the whole adventure takes place and its geography is crucial for its completion - it is completely possible to unravel the clues given. For the non-knowledgeable, everything is very well explained soon after, adding a small class of religious history to the book.

Finally, we have the interesting relationship between the protagonists. The bold idea of joining these two very different beings leaves the need for a deep analysis of acceptance, which has been very well explored. Thomas finds himself constantly in an internal struggle, trying to know what to do with this information, offering us precious moments of reflection on the teachings of his religion, which forces us to do the same.

Sam Cabot is the pseudonym of Carlos Dews and SRRozan, who sign the book. Dews is a professor of languages and literature at John Cabot University, a resident of Rome, and Rozan is an acclaimed writer of crime novels. We can clearly see the traces of the partnership of the two in the course of reading, the investigative suspense was on account of Rozan fitting in with the historical religious facts, together with the wide geography of Rome and historical facts explained by Dews. The combination of the two writers resulted in a work that pleases the adventure and becomes even more interesting with the “Vampiresque” touch.

It’s worth remembering that even though there are real historical facts, The Blood of the Lamb it is a fictional work. Some hints may displease the most religious, but keep in mind that it is only fantasy.

  1. Hello..
When I saw this release, I was very interested, the only thing that discouraged me was knowing that vampire content ... lol I'm not a big fan of vampires. However, I heard that this book has a difference.
But at least the work pleased you, and I was curious. I think I would read it.

    • I confess that the vampire content was also unpleasant when I saw it. That is exactly why I requested this book, I thought it was fair to provide readers with a review saying whether it gets in the way or not. I ended up liking it a lot and I hope you like it when you read it. Thanks for the comment.

  2. It is the second review I read, and I regret not having asked for it. : /

from what I saw the story is incredible! I really want to read the book, I love plots with vampires. I thought this was going to be a drag reading because it was a little bit of history, but by the way I was wrong!

    • I requested as a long shot. I gave the vampires a twist in the nose, but I thought it was worth seeing if the writing quality, as compared to Dan Brown, was similar. I ended up having a pleasant surprise and I recommend you read it if you have the opportunity! Thanks for the comment.

  3. Look, this is also the second review I read of this book, but honestly it didn’t call me much attention to read it, because now I’m in the moment of reading novels and I think I have to wait to read it, you know? I liked the approach of the story and everything, but now I wouldn't take it to read. I hope to have the opportunity as soon as possible. Congratulations on your review, because it was very well written and objective =]

  5. Hello,
The part of having so many details from ancient times leaves me kind of on the back foot but I liked the fact that I could unravel the mysteries. Just like having supernatural facts together.

  6. Hello, Taranis!

I read this book and it was a very pleasant reading! I really liked the way the vampire universe was mixed with religion. More rational and less supernatural vampires really pleased me.
And the author's writing is very fluid, he doesn't want to be pretentious at all, running away from those undecipherable mysteries

    Kisses!

    • I hope you enjoyed reading. Indeed, explanations are almost necessary for those who do not know the church or even the geography of the place. Thanks for the comment.

  8. Hello!
What caught my attention in your review was that you said that the work mixes Dan Brown with the narrative of Anne Rice, as a fan of the two, if before I really wanted to read the book, now that I know that the narrative is similar to the two, I was even more interested.
I also found it interesting that the story involved vampires and that it had to fit in the context.
    Great review!
    Kisses.

  9. Hello all well?

    This is my next reading!

What motivated me to ask him was the question of Dan and Anne who is the diva of my life.

I'm really excited about reading, with this mix of religion and supernatural factors.

  11. Hi, how are you?

The book caught my eye for the plot. It's the second very positive review I read from him, and I'm really tempted to take a chance. I read some of Dan Brown's things, but I confess that books in this style are not really my type of reading, so I will probably postpone this reading for a while.

  12. Hi,

I have this book here for reading, including him next on the list.

I read some reviews of them and mostly colored this point that you mentioned, where the author managed to introduce vampires in a very subtle way, and about the interaction of the characters, I believe I will like the story.

    Congratulations on the review.

    • I hope you enjoy reading. I think the way they put the vampire, and the interaction between the characters, is the most striking point of the work.
      Thanks for the comment.

    • It is very daring, I think this is the great asset of the book (or defect, depending on the point of view). I hope you enjoy reading and thanks for the comment.

  13. Is that Dan Brown? HAHA I really like his books and if he follows some of his books, he is already a good size. Did I really like the Church and Supernatural themes together? I really want to check out this work and see what happens. I really enjoyed the review.

    Hugs, Carlos.
