Experienced in covering public security in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Mauro Ventura closely followed the birth of Hotline. Using all his experience, the author launches the book The Great Cases of Dique Denouncement, published by the editors Intrinsic, with reports of the most dramatic and emblematic cases that the journalist was able to follow in more than three years of research.

Since its creation in 1995, Hotline Denúncia has received almost 3 million complaints, which resulted in the arrest of more than 20,000 criminals and the seizure of around 42,000 weapons and ammunition, in addition to 33 tons of narcotics. The work, conceived together with Zeca Borges, friend of Mauro Ventura and coordinator of the service from the beginning of operations until his death in December 2021, exposes the most emblematic cases of the 28 years of Rio's longest-running security policy. According to the author, Zeca was a key player in conception of the book from the publisher's História Real label, as he knew the stories well, even remembering most of them off the top of his head.

With full access to the database and the Hotline team, Ventura not only reconstructed the crimes but also the experience of those who experienced them up close: DD attendants, relatives of the victims, police officers involved in the investigations and public prosecutors. With this, the report book becomes more than a report of crimes, each part presents the impact on the lives of the victims and their families. Due to the involvement of professionals working at Disque Denúncia, the work also becomes an interesting immersion into the daily lives of workers.

The narrative is engaging, excitingly revealing the tensions and actions of the cases. The team's dedication, their failures and their victories are not left aside, which makes the book a rich experience for fans of True Crime and real cases, who like to absorb at least the reality of the stories. In fact, some of the most representative cases are placed in The Great Cases of Dique Denouncement such as the largest cocaine seizure in Rio's history, the barbaric death of a six-year-old child and a massacre of innocent people by corrupt police officers.

The curious part comes from Ventura's perception, who noticed and inserts in the book how the DD is seen by society as a channel for venting that can receive any type of issue, from poor service provision to reports of crimes, protests over account from unresolved requests to confidences about depression, from noise complaints to general misdemeanors. It becomes a ray of hope for the population and when reporting this in the cases exposed, it makes the experience even more engaging.

The Great Cases of Dique Denouncement It is a documentary book that provides an intriguing and intriguing account of extremely remarkable cases. With an engaging narrative, it is an attractive work for the immense current audience of True Crime, bringing an immersive experience of real cases and an intimate relationship with everyone who was involved in each of them – and the repercussions on their lives.
