Assassin's Creed Dawn of Ragnarok is an excellent DLC that takes fans of the franchise to a new universe full of adventures through Norse mythology.

And the end of the Norse Gods came to the universe of Assassins Creed. The newest DLC, Dawn of Ragnarok, brings Odin, the All-Father so fans of the franchise can venture into this new universe of the creed.

Gameplay

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok keeps the same mechanics as all previous games and also its base. There is no secret for those who are already used to the formula. Explore, find items, talk, be stealthy, attack, save some dwarves in the case of this DLC and so on.

The bugs that annoyed some players and amused others continue. Even so, it doesn't take all the fun out of this adventure. One of the interesting parts is having a huge map to be explored and a non-linear journey, where Odin, through (the) protagonist Eivor must follow in search of answers to a dream he/she had.

Visual

Particularly leaving the “earthly” landscapes already known from the AC universe is very good. Fans have already seen Egypt, London, the Caribbean islands and so on. Therefore, a Norse world of the Gods is without a doubt exceptional and has paved the way for new design challenges.

Every atmosphere is utterly rich and fans should stop by to simply do nothing in some locations just to enjoy the development work. Undoubtedly, the technology – even if it still fails – of the new generation is being used properly, and not to deceive the fans.

Worth it?

Assassin's Creed has had its ups and downs over the years, like any other long-running franchise. Some complain about the game not being innovative and being a Ubisoft standard. Well, it's kind of obvious that the game is a "Ubisoft standard", since the title is from the company. It's like "Warner standard", "Marvel standard" or if you prefer, "Kojima standard" movies.

This is the game's signature. And it's also worth noting that stealth adventures, exploring environments, always follow the same style. If you leave that, it's no longer Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Final Fantasy (to put another game from a different company), among others.

So, if you're a fan of the series, it's worth venturing into this new story, even more so if you haven't purchased the base game yet. Another reason is to have a – I prefer the female version – strong protagonist, who was not created around a masculine character.

It's ridiculous to play with a woman who looks like a man! It seems that giving strength and prominence to female characters is necessary for them to have masculine traits. And worst of all, the worst masculine traits that are lack of education, stupidity and other factors that turn some characters into brutucus that should be used in fighting games and not in a cerebral adventure.

It is also worth mentioning the great script, well written and coordinated, which brought a little more knowledge, even if fictional, about Norse mythology. Running away from the gods of the Marvel publishing house and bringing the real greatness of these gods and exploring this whole culture, is more than a hit.

We are very used to the story of the Greek gods since school days and Norse mythology is poorly explored. So, if you are also a fan of Vikings stories, you will love to venture into this narrative.
