Star Wars: Squadrons is a space and air combat game based on the fictional universe of Star Wars. The game itself, geared towards online, may seem - and is - like Battlefront, but its grip is more fun. The game looks fantastic and the franchise's soundtrack helps a lot more in the fun.

The game

Master the art of starfighter combat in the authentic flying experience of STAR WARS: Squadrons. Fasten your seatbelt and feel the adrenaline of first person multiplayer space fights alongside your squad. Enlisted pilots will enter the cabins of the Starfighter fleets of the New Republic and Empire fleets and fight strategic 5-to-5 space battles. Modify your starfighter and adjust your squadron's composition to suit different play styles and crush the opposition. Pilots will triumph as a team and complete tactical objectives on known battlefields and others never seen before, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.

The plot

As always, the game's story is totally unprecedented. One of the positive points of the franchise is to always bring a new storyline, new characters and also bring old ones to accompany us during the adventure. The story takes place shortly after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

The Alliance tries to form a stable nucleus for its new government, but as expected, the remnants of the Empire will not accept defeat so easily. Therefore, a new member will be the precursor of this adventure, which we will not put in order not to hinder its development,

Gameplay

The gameplay of the game is simple. The game that was given to us by EA for review, went to the PC. The download takes a little time, since it consumes a little more than 32 GB, so be patient if your internet is slow.

The installation is fast and we are already in the game, choosing our side and creating our character. There are not a multitude of options, which can be something positive for those who want to get into the adventure right away, or negative, if you are one of those very detailed.

The controls are simple and respond with precision. The game itself puts you on a mission so that you can learn every option that exists on your ship, be it rebel or imperial. The matches are very dynamic, mainly because battles with ships are not always seen as the main point of Star Wars games. They even exist, but not with all this quality. And we're still talking about the single player.

Multiplayer, which is one of the main modes of the game, is as much fun as the single player mode. But in this style, the difficulties you will encounter are evidenced, mainly with the controls. Still, this is not a negative thing, but a positive one as it is really fun to play with other partners.

Valley?

Overall, Star Wars: Squadrons delivers what it promises. It is a fun game, that does not addict you, but that makes the player - whether fan or not -, want to continue the game to learn more about its history or just have fun with the battles. Or both.

Its look is very beautiful, with almost perfect effects. The only negative point for the game is that it can be dated, that is, its history is charming, but it is not possible to know if after finishing Squadrons, people will want to continue playing, even in multiplayer.

Perhaps with releases of DLCs in the future, and a job well done by those responsible, Star Wars: Squadrons will earn a bigger life than expected. Anyway, the title is more than welcome on your PC or console.

Star Wars: Squadrons is now available for PC, PS4 and Xbox one, with the possibility of playing it in virtual reality.
