Not only large companies live the San Diego Comic Con, occasionally we are introduced to something more unknown but impressive. This is the case for Major Grom, a Russian film that we had the chance to check out.

Based on a successful comic in Russia, majestic grom is an action short that follows the main character of the comics, Igor Grom (Aleksandr Gorbatov), which alone prevents a bank robbery.

The interesting thing about short films is the lack of explanation and exploration of characters, giving the chance to start the plot right in the middle of the action, and that's exactly what Major Grom does. Starting exactly when the bank robbery begins, lulled by an exciting soundtrack, the short throws the viewer directly into the action, without wasting time with lengthy explanations and thus delivering a complete and satisfying work in less than 30 minutes.

Grom is a character that is well explored in this short period of time, being a plainclothes policeman who was present when the robbery started, it takes no more than five minutes, two scenes and a third party speech to understand the reputation and qualities of police - even without having any contact with the comics. Through scenes that show Grom thinking about possible approaches and their consequences - and also the approach he actually chooses - we can understand the capacity of this character without the need for prior explanations, a capacity that is reinforced when another police officer, with just one word, lets understand that Major Grom he is the only policeman capable of such a feat.

But if you're the type who likes to get to know the characters intimately, the bubble, editor responsible for the original comics and for the production of this film, created a comic that works as prequel for the robbery, explaining why the 3 robbers are committing this crime (unfortunately, neither she nor the original comics are available in Brazil yet). Grom already has a solid foundation for his character in his magazines.

Unknown quality works are always welcome and Major Grom it's the catchy type. With a shallow but interesting plot; a captivating protagonist; a right dose of humor; good direction and good acting (all packaged in an accurate soundtrack), the short is the kind that impresses and will no doubt appeal to movie lovers - both those who appreciate the quality in the little things and those who love good action. .

Major Grom is the big bet for the bubble start your own cinematic universe and we're rooting for it to work!
