Monsters at Work a day goes by after the power plant Monsters Inc start collecting kid laughs to supply the city of Monstropolis, thanks to the discovery of Mike and Sulley that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams.

The series follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an enthusiastic young monster who graduated as the first of his class in the University Monsters and always dreamed of being a scary. But when he gets a job at Monsters SA, he discovers that scaring is no longer in fashion and that laughing is what matters. Tylor is then temporarily transferred to Technical Brigade of Monstros SA (MSABT), where he must work alongside a group of misfit mechanics while trying to become a prankster.
