Series Apple TV + created by Tony Basgallop and directed by the well-known filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, Servant is a very intimate production, which since its first season has focused on a family dealing with the psychological of losing their child as a baby.

In season 2, the plot becomes even more intimate, in part because of the recordings during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to statements by the production team in an interview with Thunder Wave, but some of these growths were already part of the plans.

The story revolves around Sean (Toby Kebbell) and Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose), who hire the mysterious nanny Leanne (Nell Tiger Free) to take care of the baby Jericho, which is actually a doll used to deal with the psychological damage that Dorothy suffered after the death of the real Jericho.

In the second season, the evolution of events takes Dorothy to the limit and comes to chase and arrest Leanne, believing that she kidnapped her real son. Being a totally psychological work, the details make a difference and Caroline Duncan, the production's costume designer, reveals that he took care that the clothes changed according to the character's spirit at that moment. While kidnapped, Leanne does not change clothes, wearing the same dirty garment all the way, while Dorothy wears more flowery and cheerful clothes as she grows in spirit, thinking she is overcoming the challenges.

Servant there was always a claustrophobic atmosphere and in its first season the recordings were made a lot inside the house, but there were some external ones. In the second, the house grows and new rooms are added, with some scenes that would be external always passing in electronics to maintain the environment.

The cameraman Marshall Adams commented on that fact. The plans for this season were to increase this environment, which becomes almost a character in the series. But the rest ended up being pushed by the pandemic, since they could not take the actors to other locations due to health risks. The technological arguments, which take the opportunity to show the electronics of the Apple company, worked very well to help in this case, since it made it possible to separate the cast in other scenarios (very few used) without exposing anyone to risks.

The series has a unique setting and the entire team emphasizes the importance of this identity. The cool colors and wide environments, which become suffocating in the same way, emphasize the psychological and magnify the plot.

The 2nd season of Servant is available in the Apple TV +.
