The HBO Max just announced the actors Murray Bartlett, Con O'Neill and Jeffrey Pierce in the cast of the series of HBO The Last of Us. Based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same title, developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for platforms PlayStation, the story takes place twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization.
Joel, a resentful survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts out as a small job soon becomes a brutal and moving journey, as both must traverse the US and depend on each other to survive.
Newly announced cast:
- Murray Bartlett as Frank and Con O'Neill as Bill – two post-pandemic survivors living alone in their own isolated town.
- Jeffrey Pierce as Perry – a rebel in a quarantine zone.
(Pierce voiced the character Tommy in the video games “The Last of Us” and “The Last of Us Part II.”)
Are still part of the cast: Pedro Pascal as Joel, a resentful survivor, plagued by the traumas and failures of the past, who must travel across an America ravaged by the pandemic; Bella Ramsey as Ellie, a 14-year-old orphan who has never known anything but a devastated planet; Gabriel Luna how Tommy, younger brother of Joel, a former soldier who has not lost his sense of idealism and hope for a better world; Merle Dandridge like Marlene of Fireflies, a resistance movement fighting for freedom against an oppressive military regime; and Nico Parker like Sarah, Joel's 14-year-old daughter.
