Directed and starred by Denzel WashingtonA Limit Between Us brings to the cinema screens the events of the play Fences.

Set in the 50s, the feature focuses on Troy Maxson (Washington), a garbage collector bitter about losing his opportunity as a baseball player, who has to deal with the pressure to support his family. His day to day boils down to work, Troy needs to work hard to make his wife at least comfortable Rose (Viola Davis) and your son Cory (Jovan Adepo), in addition to helping your brother's home Gabe (Mykelti Williamson), who suffers from mental problems due to a war wound, and his eldest son Lyons (Russell Hornsby), which has difficulties in supporting itself.

A Limit Between Us explores, among other topics, the psychological issues of the pressures that a family man experiences daily. Troy demonstrates in his behavior all the frustrations he carries, through continuous complaints about common things, mainly criticizing the success of others, and oppositions to the son who wants to pursue a sports career, the protagonist shows that he still has not overcome the failure as a player and live daily in a mediocre job is only making matters worse.

The theater format was maintained, requiring many speeches by Denzel, which the actor managed to manage without the slightest difficulty. Using practically two sets - external and internal, with very few scenes in another location - the work is explained only by lines, usually placed in Troy's long stories and completed (or denied) by Rose, to give a complete understanding.

A Limit Between Us it is basically poetry in the form of cinema. Dealing with simple yet touching subjects, the script takes you through a marriage full of ups and downs, which, without a doubt, will make the viewer reflect on the true meaning of love and companionship. Troy is an easy character to identify, the constant trials of his life are not uncommon to happen to anyone and that is why we have an ambiguous feeling towards him, while we disagree with his actions we also understand why he reacts in this way.

Maintaining as much of the theatrical format as possible was the key to leaving this poetic air in the film, however, it limited its acceptance. I believe that only those most familiar with the long scenes and monologues in the pieces will see the true beauty of the work, those who are not used to it may find it boring.

A Limit Between Us was responsible for the Oscar nominations for Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, which are more than justified. The cast takes the entire production on their backs, without their certain expressions to complete the lines, understanding the plot would not be possible. Denzel and Viola give a show, always working together and with an impressive tuning, the two would be able to tell a story with only the body. They stand out, but they are not the only wonderful actors, the entire cast has a great tuning and quality. Mykelti Williamson, who even doing an incredible job as a debilitated man was left out of the nominations, delivers his role very well and deserves an honorable mention.

All of these elements make A Limit Between Us a work to fill the eyes, with great content.

A Limit Between Us opens on March 2 in theaters, with previews from February 23 to March 1.
