During the series panel Watchmen, at New York ComicCon, the creator Damon Lindelof and part of the cast revealed some details of the new production of HBO.

During the chat, Lindelof shocked fans by revealing that the series may have only one season, as the script was completed within the nine episodes of the first year.

“We developed the episodes to be as independent as the 12 original editions of the graphic novel. We wanted to convey the feeling of perfection when solving the mystery in question ”, he declared. “Obviously, there is a potential to explore more of this universe. But this series will be different from The Leftovers and Lost in which the season scripts always promised a continuation of the story ”.

Watchmen will be a continuation of Graphic Novel homonymous of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, originally published between 1986 and 1987. In this alternative reality, guards will be seen as outlaws, unlike past works where they were seen as heroes.

Damon Lindelof also commented on the challenge of creating the script. The creator revealed that he had to exercise a lot of creativity to imagine how this universe would have developed in these three decades.

“The comics were written in the middle of the 80's and are very focused at that time. So, I started to question what would have happened 30 years later. What happened to a certain character after saving Earth? What if Robert Redford had run for president and won? ”

With Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Jean Smart, Louis Gossett Jr., Tim Blake Nelson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the cast, Watchmen premieres on October 20 on HBO.
