The third season of Jack Ryan finally reached the Prime Video, after a delay of 3 years. Now the spy thriller takes the lead character, played by John Krasinski, to venture across Europe, while being completely embroiled in a political dilemma between the United States and Russia.

As is expected from any espionage work, the new season of Jack Ryan is quick to start in the middle of the action and, mainly, in the midst of the movement of the universe of espionage, politics, ethical dilemmas, betrayals and other points that should not disappoint fans of the genre. And all this with good action sequences and a – again – very good performance by John Krasinski.

On a comparison level, as with the second season, this third hits again and elevates even more the universe of the character created by Tom Clancy, even if at certain times the story is predictable. Still, the level of suspense remains as expected.

This time Jack Ryan is working in Rome, Italy, when he is warned about a new threat called Project Sokol, which is nothing more than Russia's plan to restore the former Soviet Union. Ryan goes on this mission to confirm this plan, but something goes terribly wrong. And as shown in the trailers, Jack is accused of treason and goes on the run.

An interesting choice this season is to take the character out of his comfort zone and take him to well-executed action scenarios. By the way, this part is really well done, but unfortunately the characters involved in the plot are predictable and their motives very old-fashioned.

Even more so for bringing – again – the Soviet Union as the villain to the plot. It's like watching some movies from James Bond. This makes, in addition to being predictable, something lazy and that can irritate some people who expect a more modern villain.

Anyway, these are debatable points, even more so if you take into account the political context of conflicts in recent years. Despite this, the third season of Jack Ryan it is good and surpasses the previous ones. Largely due to careful action, good direction and the presence of John Krasinski who shows that he was made for the role.

The third season of Jack Ryan premieres December 21 on Amazon Prime Video.
